Temperatur

Die Hitzeentwicklung war bei unserem vgp-bps13a/b Testgerät nie kritisch und blieb immer unter der Hauttemperatur. Wenn man das iPad jedoch im prallen Sonnenschein nutzt, dann erhitzt sich das Gehäuse klarerweise von Aussen.

Mit gemessenen 29-32°C blieb es in Innenräumen auch immer knapp unter der Hauttemperatur und fühlte sich daher nie warm an.

Lautsprecher

Der verbaute Mono-Lautsprecher befindet sich auf der unteren Seite des iPads. Durch die beliebige Rotation des Tablets, ist die Position akku sony vgp-bps9a/b zwar nicht entscheidend, trotzdem deckt man ihn oft unabsichtlich mit der Hand ab. Zwei Lautsprcher wären deshalb manchmal wünschenswert und könnten auch einen Stereoeffekt erzeugen. Die Qualität ist für die kleine Baugröße gut und reicht für Filme und Spielklänge. Auch die Musikuntermalung per Internetradio oder der iPod Funktion können anspruchspruchslose Benutzer zufriedenstellen. Der integrierte Audioausgang liefert ein sauberes Signal ohne Rauschen und mit einer guten Akku T60 Qualität. Hier merkt man die Abstammung der iPod Serie.

Das integrierte Mikrofon funktionierte im Akku Thinkpad X60 Test mit Skype einwandfrei. Videokonferenzen sind jedoch aufgrund der fehlenden Webcam nicht möglich.

Akkulaufzeit

Apple bewirbt das iPad 10h bzw. 9h (über 3G) Surfzeit. In unseren Praxistests beweist sich dieser Wert, wenn man die Displayhelligkeit IBM X60s akku nicht voll aufdreht. Wir erreichten z.B. mit halber Helligkeit 9,5h über WLAN Verbindung. Mit minimaler Helligkeit erhöht sich der Wert auf eindrucksvolle 14 Stunden und 13 Minuten. Dadurch wird auch klar, dass das LED Display der größte Stromverbraucher ist. Maximal lief das iPad im Test fast 17,5 h (Idle, minimale Helligkeit, WLAN und 3G aus). Minimal lief das iPad 4.5h (volle Helligkeit, 3D Spiel, WLAN und 3G ein). Insgesamt kann man also so mit 5-10h Akkulaufzeit im normalen Betrieb rechnen. Damit kann sich das iPad an die Spitze aller von uns getesteten Geräte setzen. Nur das MSI Wind U115 (Intel Atom Z520 und selber Grafikkern im GMA500) kann mit 3-12% Rückstand aufschließen. Dieses verwendet Akku Thinkpad T400 jedoch auch einen mit 75Wh mehr als doppelt so großen Akku (iPad: 25Wh).

Zum Aufladen des iPad benötigten wir im Test das mitgelieferte Netzteil. Über die USB Verbindung mit einem 2007er MBP wurde zu wenig Strom übertragen. Mit 6 Stunden 49 Minuten Ladezeit, muss man jedoch einige Zeit auf den nächsten acer 5920 akku mobilen Einsatz warten. Die ersten Minuten nach vollständiger Entladung lässt sich das iPad übrigens überhaupt nicht einschalten, dies funktioniert nur mit minimal geladenen Akku. Dadurch muss man einen defekten Akku wohl auf alle Fälle ersetzen lassen (nicht selbst wechselbar).

Akkulaufzeit

Der Stromverbrauch ist dank sparsamen ARM Prozessor mit integrierter Grafikkarte sehr gering. Verglichen mit allen Notebooks HP Compaq NX7400 Akku und Netbooks im Test, kann das iPad bei allen Messwerten (im Betrieb) die klare Führung übernehmen. Netbooks ziehen mindestens 1/3 mehr Strom aus der Steckdose. Die sparsamsten Konkurrenten sind Asus Eee PC T91 und das Sony Vaio X11.

Ankreiden kann man Apple höchstens, dass das Netzteil auch bei ausgeschalteten iPad und im Standby 0.9 Watt aus der Steckdose zieht.

Praktische Erfahrungen

In unserem mehrwöchigen Test mit dem Apple iPad konnten wir uns ein detailliertes vgp-bps13a/s Bild des Tablets machen.

Leider fehlt dem Safari ein echtes tabbed Browsing, dies kann man jedoch mit 3rd Party Browser, basierend auf die selbe Rendering Engine, wie Atomic Web (empehlenswert) nachrüsten. Probleme hat die mobile Webkit Engine mit Frame-basierten Oberflächen. Z.B. lässt sich das Typo3 CMS Backend kaum bedienen. Alternativ-Browser mit anderer Rendering-Engine sind derzeit leider keine erhältlich und aufgrund Apples AppStore Richtlinen sind auch keine absehbar.

In diesem AppStore findet man die einzige Quelle für zusätzliche Software für das iPad, sofern man es nicht per Jailbreak befreien will. Gute Applikationen sind jedoch meistens kostenpflichtig. Durch die geringen Preise und die problemlose Kaufabwicklung, ist man jedoch gerne zum Kauf bereit. Der Atomic Browser kostete z.B. 79 Cent. Grundsätzlich kann die Applikationsqualität im Store dank Apples rigider Zulassungspolitik überzeugen. Die Multitouchbedienung macht auch nach mehreren Wochen noch Spaß und verleitet das iPad statt dem (laufenden) Laptop für kleine Surfausflüge zu verwenden. Auch die Apps verwenden meistens den Touchscreen sehr gut. Die virtuelle Tastatur ist für kleine Schreibarbeiten wie Dell Laptop Akku URLs im Browser, Formulare, kurze Mails voll ausreichend. Mit dem kommenden IOS 4.2 (Oktober) akku wird sich dies etwas bessern.

Sony’s next generation of Readers were on display at IFA, so I took sony VGP-BPS9 battery the opportunity to play around with the final build. I liked the first Touch and Pocket Editions, though there were some issues. The touch layer on the former decreased the contrast and added glare, plus neither model was as fast or responsive as I would have liked. Thankfully Sony solved both problems with these new versions.

Sony

It also got s bit of a redesign, so now it has the same overall design and buttons as the larger Readers. Unfortunately that means that both physical page turn buttons are on the left side, where before you could reach the one in the middle with both hands. That design wasn’t as ergonomic as the Kindle, but it’s better than having the buttons on just one side.

Sony wants users to swipe to turn instead of worrying about buttons, but in my experience the swiping thing isn’t as Dell Studio 17 Battery immersive as a simple tap. However, I was glad to see that swiping appears to have a much lower error rate than before. And you don’t have to swipe across the entire screen for the Reader to register. A short flick of a few millimeters will do it, but it takes some getting used to.

Overall performance

Samsung netbooks have always been a successful marriage of portability and price.

What about the N150? The NF210 will also sport an Intel Atom N455 processor, which, these days, has become fairly de rigueur in the netbook market.

On the other hand, the NF310, expected to debut in good battery October for $399, will pack Intel’s first multi-core Atom processor. The new CPUs are expected to raise performance
(at least marginally), lengthen battery life, and support DDR4 memory, so to see the chips shipping in new netbooks is an exciting proposition.

Not many details on the NF310 are available save 1GB of DDR4 RAM and Windows 7 Starter.

Hersteller Dell stattet die Inspiron 15R Reihe mit der neuesten CPU und GPU Akku Dell Inspiron 1501 Generation aus. So ist das Inspiron 15R sowohl mit Core i3 als auch mit den potenteren Core i5 Prozessoren verfügbar. Aber auch schwächere CPUs sind im Inspiron 15R Portfolio enthalten, so wie z.B. Intel Pentium Prozessor P6000 mit 1.86GHz für den kleinen Geldbeutel. Als GPU kommt der bereits integrierte Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD zum Einsatz, bzw. wahlweise, wie es bei unserem Testgerät der Fall ist, auch eine dedizierten Grafikkarte des Types ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 mit 1024 MB GDDR3 Speicher.

Dank der Kombination aus Intels Core i5 430M Prozessor und der ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, besitzt das Inspiron 15R mehr als genug Leistungsreserven für die gängigsten Alltagstätigkeiten wie z.B. Officeanwendungen, Internet surfen, Akku Thinkpad X61 Mails schreiben, HD-Filme schauen oder auch Mp3s abspielen, bzw. um diese auch parallel laufen zu lassen.

Unser Testgerät ist mit einem Core i5 430M ausgestattet, dessen zwei Kerne mit einer Frequenz von 2,27 GHz ans Werk gehen. Dank HT (Hyper Threading) sind diese zwei Kerne in der Lage bis zu vier Threads gleichzeitig zu bearbeiten. Weiters verfügt der Core i5 430M auch noch über das Turbo Boost Feature, das nicht Akku Dell Inspiron E1505 benötigte Kerne herunterfahren kann um Strom zu sparen, und gleichzeitig ein automatisches Anheben der Kerntaktung auf bis zu 2,53 GHz vornehmen kann, sofern zusätzliche Leistung benötigt wird.

Die Arrandale Architektur entspricht technisch gesehen der Clarkdale Architektur, dem Desktop Akku Dell Vostro 1000 Pendant, allerdings wurde sie für den Einsatz in Notebooks optimiert – unter anderem mit herabgesetzter Taktrate und Spannung, um eine niedrigere TDP (Thermal Design Power) zu erreichen und somit auch eine längere Akkulaufzeit zu ermöglichen. Hersteller Intel gibt für den im 32nm Verfahren hergestellten Core i5-430M Prozessor eine TDP von rund 35 Watt an.

Als Massenspeicher kommt eine 500 GB große Akku Dell Inspiron 6400 Toshiba Festplatte zum Einsatz. Für all jene die es genauer wissen wollen: die genaue Bezeichnung der verbauten HDD lautet MK5065GSX, die mit 5400 Umdrehungen ans Werk geht. Von den Transfergeschwindigkeiten her (HDTune), hinterlässt diese einen recht durchschnittlichen Eindruck.

Gaming Performance

Als Grafiklösung kommt eine Mobility Radeon HD 5470 von ATI mit 1024 MB GDDR3 Speicher zum Einsatz. Die GPU ist das NachfolgemoAkku T410 dell der Mobility Radeon HD 4570, ausgestattet mit einer etwas höheren Taktung und DirectX 11 Unterstützung. Allerdings besitzt sie leider zu wenig Rohleistung, um die DirectX 11 Effekte flüssig darstellen zu können.
Als Einsteiger-Mittelklasse Grafikkarte ist sie in der Lage aktuelle Spiele bei verringerter Auflösung und herabgesetzter Detailstufe, je nach Spiel, mehr oder weniger flüssig darzustellen.

Die Verwandtschaft zum Inspiron 17R wird hierbei vgp-bps2a wieder einmal ersichtlich. So besitzt das Dell Inspiron 15R leider die gleichen Schwächen hinsichtlich der Lüfterlautstärke und dessen Verhalten. Im Idle Betrieb kann man sich mit durchschnittlichen 34,7 dB(A) ganz gut anfreunden, doch unter Last sind uns die zeitweise mess- und deutlich hörbaren Maximalwerte von 45,8 dB(A) doch eindeutig etwas zu laut. Im Schnitt messen wir unter Last 42,1 dB(A), was durchaus noch im vertretbaren Bereich ist.

Temperatur

Erfreulich hingegen sind die Oberflächentemperaturen des Inspiron 15R. Trotz kleinerem Gehäuse und höherer Umgebungstemperatur schafft akku sony vgp-bps2b es unser Testnotebook hinsichtlich der Abwärmeentwicklung auf dem selben Niveau des Inspiron 17R zu bleiben, bzw. dessen Werte zum Teil noch zu unterbieten.
Im Idle Betrieb sehen die Temperaturen, sowohl auf der Ober- als auch auf der Unterseite, sehr gut aus. Unter Last können wir die wärmste Stelle mit 42 Grad Celsius im mittigen Bereich an der Unterseite des Notebooks ausmachen, ebenso ein völlig unproblematischer Wert.
Den Vergleich mit ähnlich akkus ausgestatteten Konkurrenzgeräten muss unser Testgerät nicht fürchten.

Lautsprecher

Die verbauten Lautsprecher können sich auf jeden Fall hören lassen. Das verbaute SRS Premium Soundsystem sony vgp-bps2c akku vermag eine saubere und klare Soundkulisse zu erzeugen, auch bei maximaler Lautstärke, ohne Dröhnen oder die Lautsprecher zu übersteuern. Die zwei Stereolautsprecher befinden sich an der Unterseite im vorderen Bereich der Baseunit und besitzen eine Leistung von jeweils zwei Watt.
Die maximale Lautstärke ist durchaus ausreichend akku vgp-bps9 für den Alltagsgebrauch. Für erhöhte Ansprüche an den Sound sind allerdings auch hier externe Lautsprecher oder High Quality Kopfhörer zu empfehlen.

Fazit

Ein Intel Core i5 430M Prozessor mit 2,27 GHz (Turbo Boost bis 2,5 GHz), eine ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 mit 1024 GDDR3 VRAM, Akku T60 vier GB DDR3 Arbeitsspeicher vom Hersteller Hyundai Electronics (erweiterbar auf insgesamt acht GB), ein verspiegeltes 15,6 Zoll TrueLife Display mit einer Maximalauflösung von 1366x768 Bildpunkten und eine 500 GB große Festplatte – dieses Gesamtpaket gibt es bei Dell um zirka 779.- Euro, und hört auf den Namen Inspiron 15R.

Im Laufe des Tests konnte uns das Inspiron 15R mit seiner schicken Optik, der sauberen Verarbeitung Akku Thinkpad X60 und der damit verbundenen Stabilität durchaus überzeugen. Aber auch die inneren Werte scheinen zu stimmen. So besitzt das Inspiron 15R zwar keine High-End Komponenten, dennoch gehört die verbaute Hardware zur aktuellen Generation.
Schwächen zeigt das Inspiron 15R nur im Bereich der Lautstärke und der Lüftersteuerung, die in Zukunft eventuell noch durch ein Bios Update beseitigt werden könnte.

Ab Werk wird das Inspiron 15R mit dem Betriebssystem IBM X60s akku Windows 7 Home Premium in der 64 Bit Version von Microsoft ausgeliefert. Andere Optionen gibt es bei der online Bestellung aktuell nicht.
Das Inspiron 15R in der oben angeführten Ausführung wechselt für zirka 779.- Euro den Besitzer. Nicht vergessen sollte man die Versandkosten, die im genannten Preis noch nicht inkludiert sind und zusätzliche 29.- Euro ausmachen. Mit dabei ist ein einjähriger Collect&Return Standard-Support (Garantie). Hier bietet Hersteller Dell verschiedene Optionen zur Absicherung des neu erworbenen Notebooks, so dass für jeden Sicherheits-Typ etwas dabei sein sollte, auch bei Eigenverschulden – vorausgesetzt der Geldbeutel Akku Thinkpad T400 macht mit.

Remember the iRiver Story? That slim and cute 6-inch eReader that the company showed Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery off at CES this year but which never launched in the U.S. That wasn’t a huge surprise as the eReader market here is getting pretty cutthroat. If you can’t deliver 3G or Wi-Fi or touch or something else to differentiate your product along with a sub-$200 or, even better, a sub-$150 price point, then perhaps it’s better to not bother. That’s why I have little hope of seeing the new iRiver Cover Story hit U.S. shelves even though it has several great features, many not seen on popular models.

I’m disappointed that the Cover Story probably Dell Latitude 131L Battery isn’t coming to the U.S. because of its functionality beyond eBook reading. The device can read several book and document formats including EPUB, PDF, TXT, Word, Excel and even Power Point, which is more than most mainstream eReaders can handle. In addition to playing MP3, WMA and OGG audio files, the Cover Story will also record voice memos
in MP3 format.

The Wi-Fi version will incorporate an e-mail app that can pull and send emails from over 3 different POP accounts. Via the Dell Vostro 1000 Battery e-mail app users can send their notes, memos, highlights and more from within books as an attachment. While it’s just a screenshot and not actual text, I can see several uses for this function. This feature-set isn’t as robust as what Plastic Logic promised with the Que, but I can see this device being very useful for the business market.

As you can see from the hands-on pics, the display has some issues with reflection. That’s because Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery of the layer over the e-ink screen that makes touch possible — a problem the last generation of Sony Readers suffered from. Contrast appeared pretty deep and the screen was definitely readable, but that reflective thing can be really distracting, especially in the sun. Beyond that, I found the touch screen decently responsive when tapping within menus, selecting text, and drawing in the memo area.

The 6.6 x 5.0 x 0.5 inch device is pretty light — just 9.9 Dell Inspiron E1505 Battery ounces — and has the same 6-inch screen as the Story and just about every other mainstream eReader. The Cover Story has a smaller footprint since it’s touch-based and thus needs fewer buttons. The buttons it does have are mostly on the top and left edges except for a multi-use button/bar on the front left. With this you can turn pages by flipping it forward or back (similar to the iRex DR800SG) and access the Home and Back functions.

The Cover Story is so named because it comes standard with a plastic cover, just like the PocketBook 360. They each have an attractive Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery checked design and come in White, Blue Silver, Lime Green, Hot Pink, Baby Pink, Beige and Titan to match the eReader’s color choices. But there may be an opportunity to buy decorative or skinned covers in the future similar to the wall display at iRiver’s IFA booth.

Another similarity to the PocketBook 360 is the built-in G-sensor that will automatically flip the orientation sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery in all four directions. So whether you’re right or left handed, you can use your dominant hand to turn pages. I heartily approve of this approach.

The two biggest drawbacks of the Cover Story are the big ones: Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Battery performance and price. While it’s not a total slug, the device didn’t react instantly to taps or button presses, took longer than I liked to load screens and open books, and turned pages in about 2 or 3 seconds. Long enough to notice, not long enough to be ridiculous. Still, that’s a big problem for an eReader that costs over 200 euro, and that’s without the Wi-Fi. The price on that version isn’t set yet, but either way both are more expensive than the Kindle and Nook. Yes, it includes features those competitors don’t have, but are they enough to draw consumers away?
