From Lenovo to Gigabyte to Viliv, a few companies have tried their hand at selling convertible VGP-BPS13 touchscreen netbooks, with limited success. With tablets a hot commodity and a netbook market starved for innovation, Dell is entering the game VGP-BPS13A/B with the cleverly designed Inspiron Duo. This $549 dual-core netbook sports a screen that flips around 180 degrees while remaining inside the lid. The Duo's attractive, rubberized design and Dell Stage touch software look gorgeous at first glance, VGP-BPS9/S but does this system have enough oomph to overcome Windows 7's touch-unfriendly elitebook 8530p battery pedigree? Sony VGP-BPS5A Battery,PA3478U-1BRS,PA3475U-1BRS Design Keyboard and Touchpad Design Keyboard and Touchpad The 2.7 x 1.6-inch touchpad has a reasonably responsive feel and a vgp-bps13b/q slightly-textured surface that made navigating around the desktop easy. Multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom were smooth and simple. The two discrete mouse buttons offered decent tactile feedback, but a small 0.25-inch space--wasted, in vgp-bps13a/q our opinion--between the buttons and the lip of the system had us tapping empty plastic by accident. Before opening the lid, the first thing you'll notice on the Inspiron Duo is the attractive design of the exterior vgp-bps13/b chassis. The bottom and sides of the system are made from a sturdy rubberized material, which also frames the top of the lid. The center portion of the lid, vgp-bps13/q which is actually the back of the swivel screen, has a glossy paisley design emblazoned with the Dell logo. The chassis also keeps the same color on the bottom, sides, pa3535u-1brs and even air grilles, so if you get the red or blue versions (which look much nicer than the default gray), the entire exterior will be color-coordinated. When you open the Inspiron Duo, you'll notice the screen, which is the first one we've ever seen that flips vertically within the PA3534U-1BRS lid, rather than forcing you to pivot the entire top of the machine. Dell's solution here is definitely innovative because it allows the hinges to stay nice vgp-bps21a and firm like a regular notebook. The trade-off is that there's a sizeable 1.1 inches of bezel surrounding the display. The ASUS B43J represents the company's first serious foray into the business notebook category, and it offers plenty of perks vgp-bps21b for professionals, including a water-resistant keyboard and your choice of facial or fingerprint login. Coupled with an ATI GPU and Eyefinity technology that vgp-bps21 supports up to three external monitors, this $1,249 system is powerful enough for hardcore multitaskers. However, some buyers will want to think twice about vgp-bps21a/b toting this 14-inch laptop to and from the conference room and bringing it on the road. Design Heat Keyboard and Touchpad The 3.3 x 2-inch touchpad is large enough to be useful, but Lenovo thinkpad t60p battery considering the size of the deck, ASUS could have been more generous. Still, the surface is slick and friction-free and the left and right mouse buttons underneath are large and Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery responsive. The B43J's business DNA is apparent not only from its aesthetics, but also from such features as a button to disable the IBM thinkpad r60e battery touchpad--very useful for those who accidentally brush the surface while typing--and the ASUS Scene Switch toggle for presentations (more on this below) Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery to the left of the keyboard. As on many ASUS notebooks, the button on the upper left pulls double duty, switching between power IBM thinkpad X60S battery profiles when the user is logged into Windows and booting ExpressGate when the notebook is off or hibernating. A fingerprint reader sits on the lower right. The company even included a slot for a business card on the IBM thinkpad t40 battery bottom of the system. Long before anyone ever heard of an iPad, Archos was churning out media-centric touchscreen IBM thinkpad t42 battery devices that, while not hugely popular, were well designed. While the company's stab at a Windows 7 slate flopped, the company IBM thinkpad t43 battery has developed a range of Android tablets, from 2.8 inches (really, a tablet in name only) all the way up to 10 inches. The Archos 101 ($299) is the top-of-the-line model, and it's the thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet on the market with a capacitive Lenovo 3000 v100 battery display. It also offers HDMI output and a front-facing camera. Although the Archos 101 is far from perfect, it's a solid value-priced alternative Lenovo 3000 v200 battery to Apple's device. Unlike the Archos 9, there are no physical buttons on the face of the Archos Lenovo 3000 n100 battery 101. All of the 101's ports and buttons are on the left side; from the top, there's a volume rocker, power, headphones, USB, microUSB, microSD card slot, and a mini HDMI port. At the bottom of all this is a port for the power plug, Lenovo 3000 n200 battery the only way you can charge the 101. We wish you could simply use a USB port instead. To the left of the screen is a VGA Lenovo 3000 c200 battery webcam. On the back is an adjustable kickstand that makes it Lenovo 3000 y410 battery easy to prop up the 101 on a desk; it's so convenient we wish all tablets had this feature. Heat Design With a footprint of 10.6 x 5.9 inches, the Archos 101 takes up nearly the same amount of counter space as the Archos 9 as well Sony Laptop Battery as the Viewsonic G Tablet. However, the Archos 101 is just 0.47 inches thick, compared to 0.7 inches for the Archos 9 and 0.5 inches for the Lenovo/IBM Laptop Battery G Tablet. The Archos 101 weighs just 1.1 pounds, a good deal lighter than the G Tablet's 1.55-pound heft, not to mention the Archos 9's 1.8-pound HP/Compaq Laptop Battery bulk. Plus, the 101's tapered sides make it look as light as it feels. Display In landscape mode, the width of the 101 made it difficult to use the slightly modified Android keyboard; we had to really fushitsu akku stretch our thumbs to get to the center. A split keyboard, a la the G Tablet, would be welcome here. In portrait mode, though, we found it much easier to type hp akku on the 101. Viewsonic's 10-inch G Tablet is designed to compete dell akku with the Galaxy Tab and iPad for your gadget dollars. At first glance, the slate has strong specs: a bright 1024 x 600 display, a front-facing webcam, and a powerful dual-core Tegra 2 CPU. It also features the unique Tap nTap UI layered on top of Android 2.2, saus akku which is designed to be consumer friendly. But do the unique features and the reasonable $399 price tag add up to a compelling sony battery product? Editor's Note: We updated this review in January to reflect a recent update ibm akku to the G Tablet's software build. The multitouch screen supports gestures such as pinch-to-apple akku zoom; we found it worked fairly smoothly and quickly in the browser as well as in games such as Angry Birds. Unlike the G Tablet, the Archos 101 runs an unadorned Android 2.2 operating system, and that's mostly a good thing. acer akku As we've seen, having a skin can tax even powerful processors such as the G Tablet's Tegra 2 CPU. The 101 comes with all the Android live wallpapers; seeing fushistu battery the sky behind the moving grass change from day to night is a little touch that's even more appreciated on such a large screen. What you don't get are tablet-hp battery optimized apps with dual-pane views, which Samsung's Galaxy Tab offers. Since there's no physical buttons on the 101, the typical Android buttons (Search, Home, Settings, and Back) are displayed dell battery as virtual buttons along the right side in landscape mode, and along the bottom in portrait mode. They remain there regardless of what app toshiba battery you open. PR |
