The latest Motorola tablet has been getting lots of headlines, but not all are exactly praising the device. Recent Xoom sales VGP-BPS9/S and benchmarks, for example, appear to pale against the giant that is Apple’s iPad 2. Perhaps it is for these reasons that recent leaks about the device coming to the Sprint network are currently appearing.

Forum site Sprint Users is claiming that the Motorola Xoom is making its way to a new network, with picture proof of the tablet sporting the Sprint logo. According to Electronista, this information is from the same forum member that leaked the MiFi 4082 last December VGP-BPS9/B and may hold credibility for this latest rumor.

The 10.1-inch Xoom is currently available through Verizon Wireless with a Wi-Fi only model coming later this month. Whether VGP-BPS9A/B or not the Xoom tablet for Sprint would be WiMAX-compatible is unknown, but certainly users shouldn’t have to go through the whole returning process in order to outfit their newly purchased tablets with 4G support.

If rumors are true, chances are we should be hearing official announcements directly from Sprint at the CTIA trade show this month beginning March 21st. Hopefully, we can expect more information VGP-BPS9 and surprises from phone carriers during the event.

Earlier this month, a Toshiba Australia executive challenged the iPad 2 by stating: “We believe that our device is superior to the Apple device, it may be a little heavier (773g) but it does have a lot of features that the iPad 2 does not have”. While the only info we have about the Toshiba tablet’s name is the possibility of it going by the moniker of Antares, it still looks to be heavyweight contender in the tablet arena. Rumored Nokia tablets aren’t anything new, although the most recent suggestions do provide some sketches to look at. According to a couple of patents granted by the United States Patent VGP-BPS13/S and Trademark Office (USPTO) today, 2 different Nokia tablet designs have been approved. Unfortunately, the application for these designs was around a year ago (May 28th 2010) and they might not ever amount to much; especially after Nokia let go of its Meego OS.

The first tablet resembles the Nokia N8 a lot VGP-BPS22 and actually appears to be an oversized version of it. If the sketch is to be believed, the tablet would have been roughly the thickness of a 3.5mm headphone jack and would have come with what appears to be an SD card slot. As for the 2nd sketch, it’s a bit more curvaceous than the first and looks like it has a wider bezel as well. Both designs seem to be in the 9 to 10 inch mold VGP-BPS22A and don’t appear to have more than one physical button.

Unfortunately, given the application date on these tablet designs it looks like they never became more than simple sketches. In addition, Slashgear.com’s sources indicate that one of the tablets was proposed to certain European carriers who were “unimpressed” and weren’t interested in the device. While we definitely would have looked forward to seeing MeeGo OS running on a tablet, it appears that opportunity has come VGP-BPS21 and gone and we’ll have to wait and see if Nokia decides to release any Windows Phone 7 tablets in the future.

Apple postpones iPad 2 launch in Japan

The recent mega-tsunami that struck Northeastern Japan last week continues to disrupt many technology companies VGP-BPS21A and their manufacturing chain. Now, new releases on the archipelago island may be delayed as well, including Apple’s iPad 2.

New technology diagnoses cancer via smartphone

Traditional testing for cancer requires large samples of tissue, days of anxious waiting and the risk that the tissue will decay on the way to the lab. During the past decade, however, the Center of Systems Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital has been working on a device that requires only a small sample of potentially cancerous cells, analyzes them right there in the doctor's office Akku thinkpad R61I and displays the results on a smartphone within an hour. A doctor then reads the results and diagnoses the patient on the spot.

How does this work? A small, approximately 4,000-cell sample is taken using a minimally invasive fine needle. Dell seems to be keeping very busy with updating their Alienware line of gaming laptops. After announcing the inclusion of Klipsch speakers in the M17x notebooks, Dell seems set to introduce two new members of the family. According to a set of pictures released by the dell.benyhoui forums, an 18 inch VGP-BPS9/S and a 14 inch laptop have been spotted and will be coming right around the corner.

The Alienware M18x has been rumored for a bit, VGP-BPS9/B and a previous listing on the Dell Support website seemed to confirm the laptop. The M18x is rumored to include an 18.4” display with a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and various GPU configurations. The massive laptop will supposedly be configurable with either a pair of AMD Radeon HD 6870M in CrossfireX or an SLI configuration of two NVIDIA GTX 460Ms or two GeForce GTX 485Ms.

As for the M14x, it should come with a 14” display (no word on resolution), Sandy Bridge processors, VGP-BPS9 and either an NVIDIA GeForce 555M, an AMD Radeon HD 6370M, or an AMD Radeon 6770M. Both laptops will probably include the same design features such as the colored lighting around the keyboard and the black matte surfaces. The M14x should also be available in Black and Red colors.

Dell’s Alienware gaming laptops are some of the top gaming notebooks available on the market, VGP-BPS9A/B and they should offer more options in the future with the M14x and the M18x. The SLI/Crossfire configurations in the M18x should make it an extremely capable machine, although it will probably also warrant a very high price tag. Unfortunately, no official word has come from Dell yet, but an announcement should be available in the near future.

Toshiba launches 17” Satellite C670 laptops

While most 17” laptops are known for their above average performance VGP-BPS13a/b and price, Toshiba is changing things up with their newest laptops. The C670 notebooks are aimed at budget consumers and will come with Intel or AMD processors depending on the customer’s preference.

With regards to the AMD powered version, it will be known as the C670D and will come with an AMD Dual-Core E-350 processor. The laptop will also come equipped with an integrated AMD graphics card courtesy of the Radeon HD 6310. Other features in the laptop include a 17.3” display with a TruBrite 1600x900 pixel resolution display, a full keyboard with a 10 key number pad, up to a 750GB HDD, VGP-BPS13 and up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.

As far as the Intel version goes, it does without the D suffix VGP-BPS13b/b and will be known simply as the Satellite C670. Although the listing on the Toshiba website indicates the C670 will only be available with a Core i3 processor, the promotional video points to an optional Core i5 processor as well. Although the rest of the specs are pretty much on par with the C670D, the Intel version is further set apart from its AMD counterpart thanks to an NVIDIA GeForce 315M GPU. Also, according to the spec sheet, an Intel Pentium powered C670 could be available VGP-BPS13a/s and would be a Luxe White color instead of the regular Matte Black. All Intel CPUs should be based on the old Arrandale archetecture (first generation Core).

While the inner workings of the C670 series aren’t the usual hardware found in a 17” machine, it’s hard to argue with the estimated 550 Euro base price. For an entry-level machine with a 17.3” display, the Satellite C670 series could provide a decent bang for the buck. Unfortunately, there is no exact pricing for all the models VGP-BPS13/q and all that is know about the release date is that it could be sometime this April.

Shape design

While it has the same size display as the all-black EVO 4G, the Thunderbolt has a slicker, more modern look. The front of the handset is mostly black with a strip of gray up top, while the back has a two-tone gray color scheme (the battery cover is darker with a nice soft-touch finish).
